The M4 was closed in both directions near Porthcawl in Wales earlier today due to a police incident. Officers were at the scene at Junction 35 where a stretch of the road was closed. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix said initially: "M4 in both directions closed long delays, stationary traffic due to a police incident from J35 A473 (Pencoed) to J37 A4229 (Pyle / Porthcawl)." The route has since reopened.

Traffic Wales South confirms M4 is reopen
Traffic Wales South has confirmed that the road has reopened in both directions and the incident is now clear.
M4 reopens - traffic flowing again
The M4 has now reopened in both directions.
According to Inrix long delays have cleared on the M4 in both directions from J35 A473 (Pencoed) to J37 A4229 (Pyle/Porthcawl).
Inrix reported: "Motorway has reopened both east and westbound following earlier incident and traffic is flowing again."
On and off slip roads affected, Traffic Wales South says
Traffic Wales South confirmed that two lanes have closed westbound between the on and off slip roads due to the police incident.
It added: "Delays expected. Emergency services at scene."
Police confirm M4 closure
A spokesperson for South Wales Police has said: "We're at the scene of an incident on the M4 at Junction 36, Sarn.
"The road is currently closed in both directions between Junction 35 for Pencoed, and Junction 36 for Sarn.
"Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your patience."
